Hello everyone, Long time no see. I have been very busy with my degree and my job, but to be honest, the perfectionist in me never lets me just sit doen a write a blog post. Its such a pain. I have been wanting to write for ages but I'm such a procrastinator. Anyway, I thought that I would try an set up a little weekly blog post with a format I have seen a lot of Tiktok. It is called My Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T , and each of the letters stand for something to reflect upon. It is cute, short and to-the-point so i thought it might get me into the habit of writing on here regularly. I hope you enjoy this post! 🥬 R. Reading This week I started reading A Pale View of Hills by Kazuo Ishiguro. I really have been enjoying it so far. I have never read any of his other books but I am consumed by the way he writes. This story has drawn me in so fast, and he does a great job of making you feel like you really are there in the setting along side the protagonist. This story is slightly eerie, but I...

Where I Ate: March 2023

Image
Last month felt pretty long to me. I was in the thick of the first semester of uni and took on more shifts at work so I was exhausted by the end of it. But, I did manage to try some new places during the month, so I am going to share them here! 1. 16/3/2023 - J Shinsen Express 📍 Indroopilly  This little sushi train was so cool! I hauled my partner out to Indroopilly shopping centre to get these tights that had stars on them (they weren't at any other Dangerfield) and we came across this sushi train. When we were looking around the food court we saw a little  しんかんせん (shinkansen or bullet train ) delivering the little plates of sushi to the tables, and I was immediately sold.  We ordered a lot of things and it all came to us on the bullet train! I wish I had taken a video. Everything was super yummy but the best thing they had was the Matcha Strawberry Iced Latte. I already love matcha and strawberry, but together it was soooo good. They had other cute looking cocktai...

Book Review: Breasts and Eggs by Meiko Kamakami

Growing up and having revelations about the world around you is tough, especially as a woman. It is something that I am struggling with righ now, as I have started to realise how painfully fast life moves, with or without you. It is in Mieko Kawakami's book Breasts and Eggs that I have found a sense of confort in the craziness of becoming an adult.  This book definitely touched me in a way that I was not expecting. I picked this book randomly off the list of extra readings from my Japanese Lit course, but I am so glad I did.  Breasts and Eggs follows 30-year -old Natsuko, who currently lives in Tokyo, after growing up in Osaka with her mum and older sister. During the extremes of the Japanese Summer, her older sister comes to visit her, with her teenage daughter in tow. Natsuko's sister is in search of a breast enhancement and Natsuko's niece has recently stopped speaking to her mother. The three girls bond and confront their individual problems over the course of the visit...

Hello Hello

Hello, I'm sure that everyone who reads this will already know that I am Indigo. I used to be called Nini Nooks when I was little. I have a few plans for what I want to post on here, including reviews of things like books, tv series, restaurants, cafes, makeup and self-care products e.t.c, as well as journal-like entries, little posts about my thoughts mixed in with hopefully some photography and tutorials like baking! I also will write some stuff in Japanese and hopefully do a sort of retrospective series on my two trips to Japan (hopefully three soon!) because I haven't documented them in anyway which is criminal... Anyway, who knows. Part of this is definitely creative pursuit, but also having a way to document my life after I have kind of ditched posting on social media...anyway social media is restrictive and I could never posted what I really wanted which brings us to this blog! I can't hide that I am super excited to be doing this. I want to write more and I do so ma...
